Havana, November 14 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Tuesday welcomed Cuban nationals living abroad who will participate in the IV Conference The Nation and Emigration, to be held next 18th and 19th of November.

Cuba opens its arms to its children living abroad who are already beginning to arrive to attend a new "Nation and Emigration" meeting, the president said on the social network X, and affirmed that "those who respect and defend the soil that saw them born and formed them with love will always be welcome".

The Havana Convention Palace will gather next weekend some 400 Cubans living in other countries, who will discuss Cuba's ties with their compatriots abroad and the prospects of that relationship.

They will also discuss, in four panels, migration issues and other topics related to culture and identity, economic development and investments.

On this occasion, a significant number of people who have not attended previous dialogues will be present, as well as a large number of Cubans living in the country and abroad, according to Ernesto Soberón, recently appointed Director General of Consular Affairs and Cubans Living Abroad.

The meeting will strengthen Cuba's ties with its nationals living abroad in order to defend its sovereignty and promote policies aimed at facilitating their greater participation in the cultural and socio-economic development processes taking place on the island.

Initially convened to be held in 2020, and postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this edition of the meeting will allow resuming those contacts that have allowed forging broad links between Cuba and its nationals in recent years. (Source:  Prensa Latina)
