Geneva, November 16 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today described as successful the presentation of Cuba's report to the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC).

Through his profile on the social network X, the president expressed his gratitude for the broad international recognition at the headquarters of that body in Geneva, Switzerland, for the promotion and protection of human rights in Cuba, as well as the rejection of the U.S. blockade, which he described as a flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of the Cuban people.

Díaz-Canel also expressed that his country welcomes the constructive and respectful recommendations received on the matter, which -he affirmed- will help us to continue advancing in the face of the challenges we still have.

For the fourth time (as in February 2009, May 2013 and May 2018) the Caribbean nation presented today at the Palais des Nations in Geneva the progress in this aspect and the measures adopted to implement the recommendations of the previous reviews.

Presenting the report, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez affirmed that Cuba will continue to promote the construction of an increasingly free, democratic, fair, just, supportive, participatory and socialist society.

In this scenario, the Cuban Foreign Minister reiterated his country's solidarity and support to the Palestinian people and condemned Israel's indiscriminate attacks against the civilian population and United Nations workers in the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that the bombing of hospitals, ambulances, schools and the massive destruction of homes and road infrastructure constitute collective punishment and a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
