Cuba's national team of translators celebrates its 50th anniversary

Havana, December 11 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel headed Monday the commemorative ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the Translators and Interpreters Services Team (ESTI).

The celebration, held at the Havana Convention Palace, was also attended by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodríguez (pictured below), among other leaders.

On the occasion, special recognitions were given to a group of founding interpreters, and to those who have been active for 45 years in the team created in 1973 by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), as well as to outstanding workers.

According to ESTI's general director, Rafael Dausá, 2023 has been an intense year, in which more than 21,700 pages were translated for the private and state sectors, more than 740 bilateral interpretation services and 186 simultaneous translation services were provided.

ESTI's mission is to guarantee communication through professional translation and interpretation services in accordance with the needs of the Communist Party of Cuba, the State, the Government and other national and foreign legal and natural persons.

The institution maintains important working links with international agencies and organizations, both inside and outside the country, and offers numerous services in some twenty languages.   (Source: Prensa Latina)
