Foreign Minister of Cuba spoke with his counterpart from Tanzania, in the context of the 19th NAM Summit

 

Havana, January 19 (RHC) The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, spoke today with his Tanzanian counterpart, January Makamba, on the sidelines of the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Rodríguez congratulated the Tanzanian on his recent appointment and highlighted the progress in political, economic and cooperation relations between the two countries, as he reported on his account on the social network X.

He also ratified the will of the Caribbean nation to increase these ties in various areas of interest.

The day before, the Cuban minister also spoke with his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Attaf. In the meeting, which he described as cordial, he reiterated his gratitude for the support and trust placed in Cuba during its presidency of the Group of 77 in 2023.

The foreign minister also accompanied the Cuban vice president, Salvador Valdés, during his conversations with the president of Uganda, Yoweri K. Museveni, a meeting in which they congratulated the president for the new responsibilities of his country, which will assume in an unprecedented way the presidencies and of the G77 and the NAM.

Museveni, for his part, referred to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and his endearing relationship with the people of Africa, where he left an indelible mark.

He highlighted that he was the architect of bringing Cuba's hand of solidarity in health matters to the continent, to which Valdés assured that not even in the midst of the complex situation that his country is experiencing will they stop offering collaboration in this area.

Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Promotion of Countertrade, a document that includes topics such as food and biotechnology. (Source: PL)
