Ciego de Avila, July 26 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero urged increased efforts to preserve the achievements of socialism in Cuba, as he closed the commemoration of National Rebellion Day this Saturday.
During his speech at the Máximo Gómez Revolution Square in the province of Ciego de Ávila, he asserted that it is possible to promote the country's comprehensive growth, despite the hostility of the United States government.
He stated that for more than six decades, Washington has maintained constant harassment, expressed in a "cruel and genocidal" economic, commercial, and financial blockade, as well as attempted invasions, sabotage, and state terrorism.
He also highlighted the extraterritorial impact of this policy and the damage caused by Cuba's inclusion on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, arbitrarily drawn up by the White House.
Manuel Marrero asserted that the Donald Trump administration persists in attempting to overthrow the Revolution through policies and sanctions to "cause hunger and desperation" among the people.
And the Cuban prime minister affirmed that not all of the nation's problems are a consequence of the US blockade.
The solutions to difficulties, he stated, require a popular confrontation with errors and shortcomings, with the conviction that progress can be made, "thanks to the determination, hard work, intelligence, and commitment of the Cuban people."
Cuba, he declared, faces its challenges with a conviction of victory, and noted that the ability to overcome obstacles is linked to national identity and revolutionary history.
"Cuba does not surrender, does not give in, does not kneel before anyone. Our national dignity is non-negotiable, and we will defend it at any price," he declared.
Furthermore, he mentioned that 2026 will be a "very special" year because it will mark the centenary of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the 9th Congress of the Communist Party will be held, which will address national priorities.
Furthermore, Manuel Marrero said that amid global crises, Cuba's foreign policy will remain revolutionary and supportive, and will defend justice, sovereignty, and democracy. and the right of peoples to freely determine their destiny.
The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro, presided over the ceremony, attended by some 10,000 people gathered in Máximo Gómez Plaza.
The commemoration was also led by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, the Commander of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, and José Ramón Machado Ventura, Commander of the Rebel Army, as well as other party and government leaders.
Citizens from 23 nations, members of solidarity groups with the Caribbean nation, also attended the event marking the 72nd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba and the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks in Bayamo.
