Arlenis-time trial

Havana, September 23 (RHC) -- Cuban cycling star Arlenis Sierra will compete on Saturday in the Road Cycling World Championships in Flanders, Belgium.

After her victory in the Giro a La Toscana, in Italy (August) and a meritorious eighth place in the Tour of Ardeche (France), the captain of the A.R. Monex club moved to Italy to continue her preparation and on Tuesday traveled to the venue of the World Championship, which celebrates its centenary.

The elite women's road race will be contested over the demanding 157.7 km section with 1,047 m of altitude between the towns of Antwerp and Leuven.

Arlenis holds as her best result in world road cycling the 12th place she took in the 2019 edition in Yorkshire, England.

Last year she finished 39th in Imola, Italy, in a race dominated by the Dutch Anna van der Breggen and Annemiek van Vleuten.
