Cuba's Jorge Grau won a bronze medal and a ticket to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games in the 10-meter air pistol during the continental shooting championship held in Lima, Peru.

Havana, November 7 (JIT)-- Cuba's Jorge Grau won a bronze medal and a ticket to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games in the 10-meter air pistol during the continental shooting championship held in Lima, Peru.

Grau led the qualifying stage with 580 points and advanced to the final eight along with another Cuban, Yohe Tamayo, seventh with 572 units.

In the final he won bronze with 247.1 points, as escorts of the American Nickolaus Mowrer (248.7) and the Brazilian Philipe Chateaubrian (248.2).

As explained to JIT by Arnaldo Rodríguez, national commissioner of this sport, the first 15 places of the competition guaranteed a ticket to next year's Pan American Games.

In the women's category, Laina Pérez qualified for the match ranking and for Santiago 2023 with 568 units and a sixth place.

In the dispute for the medals, Cuban Laina finished fifth.

The podium of the event was occupied by the Americans Suman Kaur and Alexis Lagan, and the Ecuadorian Diana Durango.

This Monday, the Pan American Shooting Sport Championship of Lima will have actions in 10m air pistol for teams (F, M and mixed).
