Havana, January 14 (JIT) - Cuban Yoanki Mensía starred in a historic performance in Argentina's National Basketball League.

The Cuban wing, who plays for Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia, scored a whopping 46 points in El Verde's 121-89 victory over Atenas de Córdoba.

With that tally, the Caribbean native not only broke his record of points, but also claimed the fourth highest mark in the history of that South American league.

The Spirituano enjoyed a dream night in which he missed only one of the 18 shots he attempted from the field, with 5-5 from long distance.

Thanks to this, and to the six rebounds he grabbed, two blocks, another two steals and the five fouls he received, he deserved a very high rating of +56, which is also among the highest achieved by a player in that League.

A record like the one achieved by the Cuban had not been seen for 18 years in that competition, which helps to contextualize the feat.

With Mensía's memorable performances, Gimnasia y Esgrima leads the Argentine tournament with enormous possibilities of reaching the playoffs.
