Havana, November 1 (RHC)--Cuba's health minister called for not dismantling any of the things that have been done during all these months against the COVID-19 epidemic.

Jose Angel Portal Miranda made the appeal while presenting to the Temporary Working Group of the Government the priorities for the stage that Cuba will begin to experience given the improvement of the epidemiological situation and the forthcoming opening of tourism.

He stressed that “it is necessary to maintain a sustainable organization of the clinical, epidemiological and laboratory surveillance system deployed throughout the nation, and monitor other viruses that may be circulating within the country."

The Minister of Public Health indicated that progress must be made in vaccination, "that is what has allowed us to reach this point in a favorable situation, and we must make sure that no one is left behind."

He added that even though it is voluntary, we have to continue working with the people to comply with the vaccination cycles. This is the most important guarantee for the future, he affirmed.

"It is what will allow us to safely contain the disease and maintain the rate of decrease of cases we are having," he concluded.
