Havana, September 1 (RHC)—Cuba voiced its condemnation against the assassination attempt on former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.

The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, sent a message of support to the current vice-president.

"Dear Cristina: I convey to you all our solidarity and support in the face of the vile attempt committed against your life, with the satisfaction that you have survived this despicable deed.

"With the best wishes for your well-being, Raúl Castro Ruz embraces you," the Army General wrote in his letter.

President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed dismay at the assassination attempt on Cristina Fernandez while she greeted people outside her home in Recoleta, Buenos Aires.

The former president was returning home from court, where she is being tried for alleged corruption, and she denies the charges.

On Twitter, the Cuban president expressed solidarity with her, the Argentine government, and the people.

The Argentine vice-president narrowly escaped assassination Thursday after a gunman's weapon jammed as he aimed at her.
