Esteban Lazo checked the recovery after damages caused by Hurricane Ian

Pinar del Río, Oct 6 (RHC) The president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Cuban parliament), Esteban Lazo, checked the recovery after damages suffered in the western province of Pinar del Río, the most affected by hurricane Ian.

The also president of the Council of State, first held an emotional dialogue with residents of the city of Consolación del Sur, one of the most damaged by the strong winds and intense rains of the meteorological phenomenon that hit the west of Cuba on September 27.

Since last Monday, parliamentarians headed by the legislative secretary, Homero Acosta have toured the municipalities of San Juan y Martínez, Consolación del Sur, San Luis, Viñales, La Palma, and Pinar del Río.

In those territories, they exchanged criteria with the population and listened to their concerns. They also met with delegates and other government authorities in the area while promoting measures to support the recovery.

Lazo also expressed admiration for the work of a brigade of electrical workers from the central province of Villa Clara who is working to restore this service in Consolación del Sur.

One of the members of that group assured him that “we came here to work and we will not return until the municipality has electricity.”

The work of the lineman brigades is one of the most urgent and necessary because after the hurricane the province was left totally in the dark due to the enormous impact on the distribution networks, and as of the day before the electricity was restored to just over 19 percent of customers.
