Cuba and Vietnam relations

Hanoi, Dec 3 (RHC) The top authorities of the Communist Party (VCP), State, Government, and the National Assembly of Vietnam congratulated two messages from their Cuban counterparts on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

VCP General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated their counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel, as did Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Manuel Marrero. Meanwhile, the head of Parliament, Vuong Dinh Hue, addressed Esteban Lazo.

Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son also congratulated his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez.

Cuba was the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam and did so on December 2, 1960. The two nations signed the treaty of friendship and cooperation in 1982 and the agreement on trade exchange and other forms of economic cooperation in 1996.

In 2018, they signed a bilateral trade treaty that came into force in April last year.

At the end of last September, the head of the Cuban government, Manuel Marrero, visited Vietnam, where he was received by the country's main authorities and participated in the Business and Enterprise Forum between both nations. (Source: PL)
