Havana, Feb 7 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel visited the populous El Condado neighborhood, in Santa Clara.

"This neighborhood is an expression of Cuban identity," said Díaz-Canel, who has been visiting this city for two days along with the eight candidates for deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power.

During the exchange, which took place in the park of Tristá and Carretera Central of this city, the Fondo de Bienes Culturales, the headquarters of the activity, was recognized for its contribution of two million pesos destined to the social works of the community.

Founded around 1700, El Condado is one of the most humble and traditional neighborhoods of Santa Clara. After the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, in January 1959, it began a new transformation, and new schools, kindergartens, medical offices, and cultural and sports institutions, among other social improvements, were created.

The Cuban president also exchanged with students and professors of the University Marta Abreu de las Villas Central and inhabitants of the Camacho Libertad Popular Council (Source: Prensa Latina).
