Cuban Foreign Ministry Collects One Million Signatures to Remove the Country from the List of Terrorist States

Havana, August 12 (RHC) The Cuban Foreign Ministry has called for global support to demand that the U.S. government remove Cuba from the spurious list of State Sponsors of Terrorism and put an end to the blockade.

With the hashtags #CubaViveResiste and #FueraDeLaLista, the digital platform cubavive.info has launched a campaign to collect one million signatures to remove the island from this detrimental U.S. designation, according to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX).

The call was made by leaders of the Confederation of Workers of the Americas, the Sao Paulo Forum, the International Assembly of the Peoples, the Continental Day for Democracy and against Imperialism, the World March of Women, ALBA Movimiento, La Vía Campesina, and the Continental Latin American Network United for Cuba.

According to the promoters, the largest island in the Caribbean is facing a blockade whose sole purpose is to force its people into submission, a blockade that is using new tools such as the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism to increase its strength and reach.

International pressure and awareness of the truth about the consequences of this unjust policy for the Cuban nation can put an end to these measures, argue the organizations calling for the collection of one million signatures.

They also agree with the position of the 185 countries that, in the United Nations General Assembly in 2022, as well as over the past 30 years, have rejected the U.S. blockade against Cuba.

"We make a global call to organizations and social leaders, popular movements, ecumenical movements, artists, athletes, journalists, associations for peace, defenders of human rights, and equality among peoples, to join our campaign and sign this letter," they urged.

They emphasized that neither the blockade nor any other similar measure will be able to defeat the sovereignty and self-determination of the Cuban people.

"The strength and humanism of Cuba are a testament to the achievements of its social project, and Cuba continues to be an example for people around the world who are fighting for peace and justice," emphasized the promoters. (Source: Prensa Latina)
