Bolivia begins New Year with measures to confront COVID-19

La Paz, January 3 (RHC)-- Bolivian authorities are calling on the people to comply with preventive measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19.  After the release of report No. 5 of the Early Warning Index (EAI) for the week of December 19-26, at least 88 municipalities entered into a state of alert to prevent and contain the spread of the virus in the territory.

The Ministry of Health and Sports of Bolivia shared the report that revealed the municipalities that present an overflow of infections -- calling "to implement stricter measures" to slow down the proliferation of the disease.

The municipalities at high risk are: Camargo, Huacareta, Monteagudo and Muyupampa in Chuquisaca, municipality of La Paz in the department of La Paz, Cochabamba in the department of Cochabamba, Huachacalla in Oruro, San pedro de Quemes in Potosí, Colpa Bélgica, El Torno, Porongo and Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Santa Cruz and Cobija in Pando.

While the municipalities that are at medium risk are Padilla, Sucre and Villa Serrano in Chuquisaca, El Alto, Guanay and Viacha in La Paz, Aiquile in Cochabamba, Antequera, Oruro and Poopó in Oruro, K Quilt and Potosí in the department of Potosí, Caraparí, Tarija and Villamontes in Tarija, La Guardia, Roboré and San Javier in Santa Cruz and Porvenir in Pando.

In light of this, the call of Bolivian health authorities has been to "make extreme efforts to guarantee that the population complies with the measures of containment and distancing."
