Mexico City, July 29 (RHC)-- Beginning today and running until Saturday, August 1st, the 21st Sao Paulo Forum is taking place in Mexico City with the participation of delegates from 23 countries.

Carlos Navarrete, national president of Mexico's Party of the Democratic Revolution, the PRD, which organized the meeting, said at a press conference that half of the participants from Latin America and the Caribbean are from progressive, revolutionary governments that won power through elections.

He said that delegations from Spain and Italy will attend as guests of the Forum, also organized by the Labor Party, and recalled that this is the fourth time that Mexico City has served as host of the Forum.

On Wednesday, the School of Political Education was opened. The school is an old dream of the Sao Paulo Forum to encourage the exchange of ideas among progressive and leftist forces in the region.
