Cuban president receives Communist Party leader from Spain

The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, received on Wednesday in Havana the president of the Communist Party of Spain, José Luis Centella Gómez.

Havana, February 10 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, received on Wednesday in Havana the President of the Communist Party of Spain, José Luis Centella Gómez.

In a meeting held at the Palace of the Revolution, the two leaders held a fraternal dialogue in which they discussed issues related to regional and international affairs, reports Granma.

The president thanked the Spanish communist leader for his permanent support in confronting the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against the Caribbean nation, which has intensified in times of pandemic.

For his part, Centella highlighted the warm welcome received during this new visit to Cuba and reiterated the solidarity of his Party in the struggle against the blockade and the media campaigns against the Island.

Manuel Pineda, Secretary of International Relations of the Spanish Communist Party, and Gloria Aguilar, President of the Patricio Lumumba International Solidarity Association, also participated in the meeting.

On the Cuban side were present members of the Political Bureau Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization, and Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as Ángel Arzuaga Reyes, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCC.

During his stay in Cuba, the Spanish communist leader also carried out an extensive program that included meetings with political and government authorities and visits to places of historical and social interest.
