Montevideo, Nov 4 (RHC) The Communist Party of Uruguay (PCU) issued a statement saluting the diplomatic victory of Cuba against the blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean island for more than six decades.

In the statement, the Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Uruguay notes the vote, this Thursday, in the UN General Assembly (UNGA) which by 185 votes in favor urged Washington to put an end to the economic, financial, and commercial siege against Cuba.

For the 30th time, the UNGA condemned the blockade exercised by successive U.S. administrations, the declaration underscores.

It has been 30 years since the vast majority of the world rejected this criminal, unilateral measure, in violation of all international legislation, which has been maintained by U.S. imperialism for more than 60 years in an attempt to starve and kill the dignified Cuban people, the text says.

It affirms that the effects of the hostility against the island have devastating effects, and far from diminishing, the impact of the blockade on the economy and the life of the Cuban people is getting worse and worse, concludes the Communist Party of Uruguay. (Source: PL)
