Cubans at first Pan American Junior Games reaffirm their commitment to competition

Cuban team to the Pan American Youth Games

Havana, November 7 (RHC)-- A political-cultural gala of the youth athletic movement was held Saturday at the José Martí Memorial, in the Plaza de la Revolución in this capital, where everything was ready for the flag-bearing of the delegation next week.

"Delivery and enjoyment, a shared dream" is the motto of the Cuban representation for the first edition of the Pan American Youth Games, scheduled from November 25 to December 5 in Colombia.

The pentathlon, canoeing, weightlifting, archery, judo, fencing, women's wrestling and table tennis teams reaffirmed the competitive commitment of the Cuban delegation towards the upcoming Pan American Youth Games.

Judoist Idelannis Gómez ratified the iron will to face the fight and the spirit of improvement, under the principle of representing the Homeland with honor.

Yarisleidis Cirilo, multiple world medalist in canoeing, received the national flag from David Lahera, an official of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

More than 200 Cuban athletes, from 26 sports, ensured their presence in the multiple competition, to be held in 7 cities, led by Cali, in an event where some 3,500 athletes from 41 countries will fight for continental glory and places for the Pan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023.

Osvaldo Vento, president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation; and leaders of the Union of Young Communists, the Federation of University Students and the Federation of High School Students also participated in the event. (Source: ACN)
