Havana, November 5 (JIT) - Three of the five Cubans who reached the semifinals won victories that will allow them to fight for titles at the Cologne 2022 World Boxing Cup.

Reports issued from that German city specify that the victories were won by the triple world champion Lazaro Alvarez (63.5 kg), the owner of the top at that level Yoenlis Hernandez (75 kg) and Rafael Joubert (60 kg).

All of them celebrated unanimous votes from the judges (5-0), as they defeated local David Gkevorgkian, Kazakh Dias Molzhigitov and Mongolian Enthur Syrymbetov, respectively.

Saidel Horta (57 kg) was a no-show due to an injury suffered on Thursday in his right superciliary arch, and Freddy Perez (92 kg) lost 0-5 to host Alexander Okafor.

The belts will be distributed this Saturday, when the Island contenders will face French Lounes Hamraoui, Ukrainian Pavlo Illiusha and Kazakh Talgat Syrymbetov, in that order.
