Havana, December 22 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro received on Wednesday triple jump world record holder Yulimar Rojas, along with the Minister of People's Power for Youth and Sports, Mervin Maldonado.

With a strong embrace, the head of state welcomed the outstanding world record holder at the Miraflores Palace, seat of government, together with the first combatant and congresswoman Cilia Flores, and the Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñañez.

On September 16, Rojas visited the President at the Executive headquarters, who celebrated her new victory and decorated her with the Liberator Order in its Second Class, in recognition of her commitment and international trajectory.

The jumper was born in the state of Anzoátegui, Puerto la Cruz, on October 21, 1995 and this year she achieved important victories such as the gold medal at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, with a jump of 15.74 meters, which earned her a new world record.

Last July, during the World Championships in Eugene, United States, the multi-champion was also first with 15.47 meters, to establish herself as the queen of her specialty.

The also nicknamed Morena de Oro has won all the golden titles since 2015 and up to the present, with the exception of the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, where she came second.

In her list of honors, there are the gold medals achieved in the South American Athletics Championship (Peru 2015) in long jump and triple jump; and in the world championships of Portland (2016), United States; London (2017) and Birmingham (2018), United Kingdom, and Doha (2019), in Qatar.

She will also participate in the Pan American Games (2019) in Lima, Peru, and the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, where she set an Olympic and world record with a jump of 15.67 meters.

In 2020 she was selected athlete of the year by the International Association of Athletics Federations and the following year she received the Ibero-American Community Trophy from the King and Queen of Spain.
