Ebola death toll tops 2,000 in Democratic Republic of the Congo

Kinshasa, August 30 (RHC)-- In news from Africa, the death toll from an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has topped 2,000.  It’s the second-worst outbreak of the epidemic on record.

The World Health Organization has called the situation in the DRC “one of the largest and most complex humanitarian crises in the world.”

According to the WHO, 48,000 people in the DRC have died of malaria this year, 3,100 have died of measles, and nearly 300 have died of cholera.
