Vice Minister of Cuba holds meeting with Foreign Minister of South Africa

 

Havana, Jun 2 (RHC) The first deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, held a bilateral meeting in Cape Town today with the South African Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor.

The dialogue was held after the meeting of foreign ministers from BRICS Friends countries, held in Cape Town. During the meeting, both parties exchanged on the state of bilateral relations and ratified the will to strengthen political dialogue and cooperation between Cuba and South Africa.

On the occasion, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa congratulated Cuba for the work it is currently doing as president of the Group of 77 plus China. She also ratified the support of her people and South African government in the battle to lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.

For his part, Peñalver thanked South Africa's solidarity, and reiterated Cuba's invariable commitment to supporting African causes.

Pandor was accompanied by Ambassador MP Bona, Chief Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the South African Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation.

On the Cuban side, in addition to the first deputy minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Enrique Orta González, Cuban ambassador to South Africa, and Rodolfo Benítez Verson, general director of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Foreign Ministry, were present. (Source: PL)
