Havana, September 21 (Web Network) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel exchanged on Thursday in New York with leaders of various religious denominations in the United States.

In his X profile (formerly Twitter), the dignitary thanked on behalf of the Cuban people for the many expressions of solidarity, the initiatives in favor of the change of policy towards Cuba and the call to the U.S. government to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island.

Earlier, in the same social network, Díaz-Canel referred to the meeting with friends of The People's Forum, in New York City.

He compared the meeting place to a university, a multicultural center. Finally, he thanked for the welcome he received from the young people who, according to him, are committed to the future of their country and the world.

The Cuban leader arrived in New York last Sunday 17 to participate, together with the delegation that accompanies him, in the High Level Week of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations.

There he presented the demands of the Summit of the Group of 77 and China, held on September 15 and 16 in Havana, and of the Cuban people, among other activities.

One of the most recent was the signing, the day before, of the treaty for the "Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biodiversity beyond Jurisdictional Waters".
