Havana, October 21 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Saturday congratulated the Juventud Rebelde newspaper on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of its creation by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Born from two words, youth and rebel - which the people cried out to Fidel in 1965 - the newspaper of the new generations and of the people as a whole, has not ceased to accompany the ideas that have most unveiled Cuba, the chief of state stressed on the social network X.

On that platform, the president of the National Assembly of People's Power (parliament), Esteban Lazo, thanked the newspaper for its relevant journalistic work, dedicated to the people, the Revolution and its youth.

On October 21, 1965, the historic leader announced the emergence of a new newspaper that had as historical antecedents Revista Mella and Diario de la Tarde, with the purpose of gathering and continuing the combative and exemplary traditions of Cuba's youth press.

On that occasion, Fidel Castro said "I believe that as of tomorrow this newspaper, which will be called Juventud Rebelde, will begin to appear, which means one more step forward, one more step forward on the revolutionary road, one more step forward on the road to socialism, one more step forward towards communism".

Juventud Rebelde continues faithful to its founding objectives and has opened its tuning fork to national and international current issues. (Source:PL)
