Havana, November 19 (RHC)-- The IV Conference The Nation and Emigration will conclude today at the Convention Palace after two days of dialogues between the island's authorities and its compatriots abroad.

According to the Deputy Director General of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Living Abroad of the Foreign Ministry, Laura Pujol, the call brings together in the Cuban capital 361 Cubans living in 54 countries, a third of them from the United States, for a dialogue that she described as fruitful and fluid.

This Saturday, President Miguel Díaz-Canel attended the opening ceremony, in which Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez affirmed that the meeting constitutes an unequivocal sign of the continuous and irreversible strengthening of ties between Cuba and its nationals living abroad.

He also stressed that this contact is the result of the dialogue initiated in November 1978, promoted and encouraged by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Rodriguez said that Cuba's great foreign policy challenge continues to be the hostility of the U.S. government in its determination to deny Cuba's right to sovereignty and self-determination.

The participants in the Conference discussed the links with their nation of origin and the prospects of that relationship, as well as migration issues and others related to culture and identity, economic development and investments. (Source: Prensa Latina)
