Uruguay's senior national soccer team defeated Cuba 2-0 at the mythical Centenario stadium in Montevideo.

Havana, June 21 (RHC) --The Cuban senior national soccer team lost 2-0 to its Uruguayan counterpart on Tuesday in the second and last friendly match of June at the mythical Centenario stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay, in the second and last FIFA Friendly Match of the month.

The Uruguayan team led by Argentine Marcelo "El Loco" Bielsa opened the scoreboard in the 27th minute, when Cuban right back Dariel Morejón committed a foul on the edge of the small area after a tackle by midfielder Maximiliano Araújo, and the referee awarded a fair penalty.

Facundo Torres converted it into a goal. The locals slowed down a little and Cuba came closer to the area, especially with their right winger Javier Paradela, but there was no latent danger for goalkeeper Rochet.

In the second half, Araújo took advantage of a loose ball after a rebound off the post and put the 2-0 on the scoreboard after beating Cuban goalkeeper Raiko Arozarena, who was very accurate in the match.

According to the match statistics, Uruguay took 15 shots, while Cuba took nine, four more than in their previous outing.

In their previous FIFA Date match, the Leones del Caribe led by Pinar del Río's Pablo Elier Sánchez had been beaten 3-0 by Chile at the Roa Rebolledo stadium in Concepción.

Both games served the Cubans as preparation for the Gold Cup in the United States, whose debut will be next 27th against Guatemala.
