Havana, March 27 (PL) - Cuba's national soccer team won 1-0 against Nicaragua in a friendly match held in Managua during the FIFA day.

From the beginning the game was tight for both teams and although sports commentators predicted a victory for the Nicaraguan team, the team led by Yunielys Castillo won with a goal by Maykel Reyes in the 81st minute.

A few hours before the match, Castillo explained to Prensa Latina that among the goals of the friendly was to consolidate the team's preparation for upcoming competitions such as the World Cup qualifiers to be held in June, in addition to evaluating the performance of several players who have been reinstated.

The DT commented that on June 6 they will play the first match against Honduras, and then travel to Havana to face the Cayman Islands, the two matches of the first phase of the World Cup qualifiers.

For the Nicaraguans it was the second friendly match of the FIFA date, as last Friday they faced Peru with whom they also lost 2-0 in favor of the South Americans.
