Leader of the World Federation of Trade Unions makes official visit to Cuba

Havana, July 21 (RHC) The General Secretary of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), Pambis Kyritsis, began a three-day official visit to Cuba as part of his first tour of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The union leader arrived in Havana on Thursday night, with the aim of strengthening ties with the island's labor movement.

A note from the Foreign Ministry reports that Kyritsis will meet with the union and political leadership, and will have the opportunity to talk with Cuban workers at the Fidel Castro Center and in various work centers.

Ismael Drullet, member of the national secretariat of Cuba’s Central of Workers, announced on Twitter that the general secretary of the WFTU will also give a conference on the new challenges of world unionism.

Kyritsis will then visit Mexico, Peru and Brazil, where he will hold a series of meetings with social leaders and unions from the region, as well as with members of the presidential council of the WFTU in Latin America. (Source: ACN)
