Computer Science University confers prize to Cuban Five

Havana, May 16 (RHC), -- The Cuban Five anti-terrorism fighters have received the Julio Antonio Mella Prize, granted by the Computer Sciences University (UCI) to prominent alumni, and for the first time given to people outside its enrollment.

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino and René González, three of the Cuban Five attended the ceremony at the university headquarters on the outskirts of the Cuban Capital. They thanked, also on behalf of their companions Fernando González and Antonio Guerrero, the studies center and its students and staff for the distinction

In a subsequent exchange with students and professors, the Cuban heroes highlighted the academic quality of the university and stressed the importance Cuba has deposited on the development of information and communication technologies.
