In the CD-DVD album, The Cuban Quintet offers lovers of Afro-Cuban jazz breathtaking performances of tunes like “A lot of miles”, by Tony Rodríguez, “Boisdale”, by Carlos Miyares, “Caserío”, by Miguel Zenon, “Tres palabras”, by Osvaldo Farrés, “Footprints”, by Wayne Shorter, and “Blues for Charlie”, by Bob Reynolds.

A multi-award-winning saxophonist, Miyares thanked PM Records and EGREM.

About ‘Toma Uno’, maestro Chucho Valdés said: ‘Carlos Miyares belongs to a new generation of Cuban jazz musicians, who are creating a new, very personal sound. He is, beyond any doubt, a musician that every band leader would love to have in his band. I was honored to have him playing with my band Afrocuban Messengers for a long period of time. I’m delighted by his talent.

‘He contributes his personal, unique sound. His passion and improvisation skills know no limits. He is also a very original composer and a great instrumentalist. This new album is proof of what I just said.  He is the greatest tenor saxophonist of his generation, and I hope to have him again soon in my band. Great, Carlos! Keep going...”.
