Buenos Aires, February 17 (RHC)-- The government of Argentina has yielded to demands for salary increases by five teachers' unions, and both parties have arranged a new work contract to avoid a strike.

Argentina's Education Minister Esteban Bulrich granted a 29% salary increase in the first bid to teachers and professors, equivalent to $520 USD.  This first installment is to be paid by the beginning of the school year in late February.
