Havana, July 12 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has expressed his solidarity with his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel, in response to the illegal measures imposed against him by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“I am sure that the brotherly Cuban people will continue fighting; know that you can count on Venezuela and ALBA-TCP (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement) to make the dream of Bolívar, Martí, Fidel and Chávez come true,” he wrote on his Telegram account.

“Venezuela always with Cuba!” the Bolivarian leader emphasized.

The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strongest and most categorical rejection of what it called Rubio's "infamous pronouncement," which seeks to sanction the Cuban president.

The official statement stated that it is "an intolerable affront to international law that a U.S. government official assumes the power to sanction the head of state of a sovereign country" and described the action as "a new example of hatred, unhealthy obsession, and imperial arrogance."

It emphasized that the attempt to punish the Cuban leader is not only a violation of the fundamental principles of coexistence among nations, but also "an expression of profound contempt for the free peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean."

The statement emphasized that the Secretary of State "is nothing more than a spokesperson for resentment and the blind failure of hatred, overwhelmed by Cuba's invincible dignity."  He declared that Rubio built "his political career on the desire to destroy revolutions that he neither understands nor will ever be able to subdue."

The Bolivarian Foreign Ministry stated that "his sickly determination against Cuba is doomed to the same fate as all imperialist attempts against our America: absolute failure."

It stressed that the imposition of new coercive measures is nothing more than acts of financial piracy disguised as false morality.  "While the Cuban people resist with heroic dignity, the United States government is directly responsible for the suffering caused by the criminal and illegal blockade, cowardly intensified by figures like Rubio," he stated.

The Bolivarian Republic reiterated its absolute and unrestricted support for the people, the government of Cuba, and its president.

It also denounced before the international community "the policy of systematic aggression promoted by the current U.S. Secretary of State, whose only agenda is to prolong the Monroe Doctrine under new masks."
