New York, October 24 (RHC)-- Cuba's permanent representative to the United Nations, Anayansi Rodríguez, highlighted the efforts of the island´s people to build a prosperous nation, despite the obstacles imposed by the U.S. blockade.

The measure is an unjust and illegal policy that violates international law and trade rules, while contravening the purposes and principles of the UN and the will of the international community, said Rodriguez during the inauguration of a photo exhibit at the United Nations headquarters devoted to the island, reports Prensa Latina.

During her opening remarks at the exhibit entitled “Cuba builds its future”, Rodriguez called on UN member states to vote on October 31st in the General Assembly Hall in favor of the draft resolution that demands, for the 27th consecutive time, the lifting of the U.S. blockade.

The diplomat reiterated that the coercive measure is the main obstacle to Cuba's development and its economic relations with the rest of the world, including the United States.
