Quito, July 13 (RHC)-- The Plenary of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador concluded on Wednesday to start this July 13 the electoral campaign, which will run until August 17th.

According to government sources, the deadline for presidential candidates to campaign was extended to 36 days.  In addition, the date of the first electoral simulation, to be held on Saturday, July 29th, was also modified.

The electoral variations were adopted after the certification of the Electoral Contentious Tribunal (TCE) that there are no pending appeals to be resolved and that the eight candidates are in conditions to advance in their campaigns.

Regarding the candidacies for national and provincial assemblymen, the electoral campaign calendar is maintained from August 8 to 17.  Besides, the electoral authorities of the South American country approved the so-called Electoral Promotion Fund for the dignity of President and Vice President.  The amount set is US$ 309,243.38 for each qualified list.
